Teacher’s Salaries

SINCE MY COMMENT ON THIS ARTICLE KEEPS GETTING DELETED OR OTHERWISE ON FACEBOOK, I WILL POST MY COMMENT/OPINION HERE-

The article, The High Cost of Low Teacher Salaries, talks about (among other issues) how we might attract and retain a talented teaching force since-

‘In the next 10 years, over half of the nation’s nearly 3.2 million public school teachers will become eligible for retirement. Who will replace them? How do we attract and keep the best minds in the profession?’

Though I do agree that the wages should be higher if, and only if, we recruit the top graduates. Accountability, measurements, tenure, test scores and pay performance should also be considered. In question is how we are going to pay for this. To pay for this, do we place more taxes onto the American citizens or do we first get government spending under control? I vote the latter.

We also need parental responsibility and involvement with our children’s education.   How do you mandate that issue?
